RESOURCES: KIDS & TEENS

Looking to support your kids/teens in learning mindfulness practice? Check out these resources as a starting point, all of which present mindfulness from a non-religious vantage point that can be easily blended with Christian faith.

Stop Breathe & Think Kids (app)
Using cute and calming animated videos, the Stop Breathe & Think Kids app guides children ages 5-10 in doing just that - stopping to breathe and notice what they are experiencing. Kids can choose a meditation based on their current mood, with an opportunity to reflect on their mood again at the end of the practice, and they will enjoy earning digital stickers along the way.  The app also offers free lifetime membership for teachers, which is a great educational resource!

Being You: A Girl's Guide to Mindfulness
by Catharine Hannay

This guide to mindfulness for teenage girls is actually applicable for all of us, whatever our age or gender. Full of wisdom, down-to-earth life examples, and easy mindfulness practices, the book will affirm the challenges of the teenage years while gently affirming our identity as loved and strong. Hannay effectively incorporates examples of Christian language for believers who are interested in this type of integration.
And here is some mindful Christian word art by an eight-year-old in my family :).
